Matthew Taylor

Matthew Taylor, a two-time Vision Fellow (2022 and 2025), produced a series of short films that document the rich tapestry of Island agriculture and the traditional, agricultural-based life practices that have been passed down through generations of Islanders and which continue to shape the community. The films utilize extensive footage Matt recorded at nine local farms between the years 2005 and 2007 through every season – plowing, planting, harvesting. Each film features interviews with Island farmers. Farms documented include Morning Glory Farm, Mermaid Farm, Alan Farm, Whippoorwill Farm (CSA), Red Hill Farm, Beetlebung Farm, North Tabor Farm, Flatpoint Farm, and David Flanders’ Farm. Upon completion, Matt’s films were donated to the MV Agricultural Society and the Martha’s Vineyard Museum. The first eight films Matt created can be viewed at https://vimeo.com/784777959.
