Ana Carvalho

Ana Carvalho, a 2009 Vision Fellow, graduated from Tufts University, Magna Cum Laude, in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Child Development and Spanish, and a minor in Political Science. Ana then completed her Master’s in Child Study and Human Development in 2015 at Tufts and went on to work at the Laboratory for Youth Mental Health at Harvard University, first as a research assistant, then as a project coordinator. Ana originally had intended to pursue a next degree in Clinical Psychology but realized this field lacked the social justice focus that she had developed as a passion, both as a woman of color and as a future mental health provider. She decided to pursue a Master’s in Social Work instead, a field whose primary commitment is social justice and supporting society in its pursuit of liberation and equality for all people. Ana completed this degree in 2020 at the University of Chicago. Ana is now a school social worker at Boston Arts Academy.
