Indaia Whitcombe
Indaia Whitcombe, a 2023 and 2025 Vision Fellow, is now the Oral History Curator at Martha’s Vineyard Museum. As a 2023 Vision Fellow, Indaia worked with Linsey Lee, oral historian and then the Museum’s Oral History Curator, in the collection of fieldwork and oral history interviews. From this collection, Indaia produced short documentary portraits for the Museum. Indaia’s professional goals are to explore, honor, and give voice to the true ethnic, socio-economic, and experiential diversity of the Island and, in doing so, help grow and sustain the Island’s social fabric and community archive. Indaia earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociocultural anthropology from Bennington College in 2005 and a Master of Arts in visual communication: documentary storytelling, photography & video from the University of North Carolina School of Journalism in 2014. She also earned an M.A. in folklore from the University of North Carolina’s Department of American Studies’ Folklore Program in 2019.
